Description

Living with DogsLiving with dogs can bring a lot of joy to their owners, but it also brings a good amount of responsibility.  Dog lovers cannot imagine their lives without their pets, but even they concede that there is a bit of bad along with the endless supply of love, loyalty and laughter.

When you adopt a dog, or buy one from a store or breeder, you are making a commitment to care for that dog for the rest of his life.  There is a lot that goes along with that: feeding, grooming, vet care, walks.  When you go on vacation, you will need to either board the dog or find a pet sitter, but all of that is well worth the effort.

Sure, having a dog is sometimes work.  They might chew a corner of your sofa, make an occasional mess on the floor or chew your mail.  But consider the trade-off.

Living with dogs means that when you come home from work, there is guaranteed to be someone at the door waiting to greet you who is genuinely happy to see you.  Dogs don’t have “bad days” that cause them to be grumpy to you.  They don’t hold grudges, care how you look or judge you.

Living with dogs provides opportunities for exercise and socialization as you can walk your dog around the neighbourhood or bring him to the local park where he can mix with other dogs and you can chat with their owners.

Dogs can make you laugh, and some studies have found that pets can even help lower blood pressure and reduce stress.  They will protect you, love you and snuggle up on the couch with you while you watch a movie.

There are so many positive aspects of living with dogs that once you do it, you won’t be able to imagine life without them.
