Description
We wanted to share a GOOD NEWS story associated with the return of our much loved Cockatiel that demonstrated the power of persistence and Social Media.
Tarzan, our Cockatiel, was lost from Monterey about 4:30pm, Wednesday 22 Jan 20.
He is pale yellow and gray with orange cheeks and black and yellow wings. He is 2 years old and has been hand raised and lives indoors.
There were strong North Easterly winds at the time and he was last seen heading in a South Westerly direction. A search of the local area failed to locate him hence we commenced the process of advertising the loss through Facebook on the numerous Lost Pet and community sites with concentration on our local area. We also followed advice and notified local vets, pet shops and produced flyers for the area.
We were heartened by the response of complete strangers to our plight who willingly shared our post.
After 8 days, and starting to think we had lost our boy, we were notified of a Cockatiel being found at a swimming pool in Liverpool, approximately 30kms from home! A number of photos and videos confirmed it was our boy and he is now safely at home. Not quite himself yet but we are hopeful that within a few days he will have recovered from his adventure.
For those that may be missing their loved ones DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE.
There are a lot of good people out there who are more than willing to help. Thank you to everyone who helped Reunite us with Tarzan!
