Kobe’s Story I have been encouraged to share my story which is about trying to find my beautiful cat. My name is Danella Scott and my cat is called ‘Kobe’ who is a Siamese Lilac Point Tabby that went missing from Plaxtol, Sevenoaks, Kent on the 3rd of August 2019; he is feared stolen from the Old Soar Road/Roughway Lane area, TN15. The series of events occurred as follows: On the said day, it was 5:30 a.m when my husband, Simon got up to let Kobe out as usual; Kobe and his sister Jasmine are never allowed out overnight and when they go out during the day, they always have their GPS collars put on. On that morning, Kobe wore his collar as normal, he had his breakfast and headed off out on his regular jaunt. When our cats go out it is common practice for us to constantly track them to see where they are at any given time. At approximately 2.00 p.m. on the afternoon of 3rd August, Simon noticed that Kobe’s tracker was showing that he had not actually moved for about one hour which we thought was very unusual; it was then that we decided to go and find him. We were walking the streets calling and calling him; Kobe always comes to us when we call, he is very vocal, and he loves it when we go and find him when he’s out on his walks. His GPS tracker has lights and sound so we turned the tracker on, we could hear it. My heart sunk; I thought that Kobe had been injured, so I ran nearer to the sound calling him, but no reply. All we found was his GPS collar which was undone and left on the floor. We continued to walk around calling him, knocking on doors, but alas did not find Kobe. Our instant thought was to start joining social media sites such as Facebook groups. I knew something was not right with the fact that Kobe’s collar was just left on the ground! We had to get the message out there as fast as we could; I joined various Facebook pages and groups for lost pets as well as local community pages. Currently Kobe is listed on at least 42 Facebook sites alone. I must say that using Facebook has not been easy as they have blocked me a total of three times now during the last few weeks for sharing posts about Kobe from Kobe’s Group page; we are however having success with his business page as they do not appear to be blocking that.
Anyway, the same evening, we went back outside walking around calling Kobe, still nothing. Then the useful tips and suggestions started to come in from the Facebook group threads. One of the first I received, was to put our vacuum contents out on our garden lawn. Our garden is not however an average size, as we live in a very rural district, but I did not let this deter us. So, in each corner of the garden I started to scatter our vacuum contents. That evening I slept on the stairs just so that I could hear the cat-flap just hoping and praying that Kobe would return. Kobe has also been reported to the local police and he has a crime reference number. The following day, 4th August, obviously heartbroken, I made the effort to print off Kobe’s missing posters. I started putting them up in the local vicinity, to date there are probably about 350 posters that have been distributed. Any posters that were put up were placed in plastic sleeves to ensure they were not damaged by inclement weather; another helpful tip that we received. Whilst putting up the posters I was talking to everyone I saw as well as knocking on doors. It was then suggested that I join ‘Next-door’, I had that account up and running in ten minutes. I received a lot of help from the people that live in my village, contacting me through the village Facebook page. People told me that they go riding, jogging or dog walking in the area that Kobe visits and they would keep an eye out for him. As I mentioned, we live in a rural district and all we have around us is an apple orchards and raspberry fields, so being August, the orchards and fields are full of fruit pickers. Simon, my husband went to talk to the workers in the fields; they all know Kobe and Jasmine they see them on a regular basis. Simon provided our phone numbers if anyone needed to get in touch. We felt relieved a little that we now had extra help looking for Kobe in the vicinity. Next task was to contact the microchip company as well as registering Kobe with AnimalsearchUK.com, Petslocated.com, dogslost.com and nationalpetregister.com. The search continued and I took on board the tips that people were passing on about searching for a lost cat. I decided to keep the vacuum contents scattered on a reg
